Through our TUCOM library we have access to many thousands of free journal articles on nutrition. You will find sneak peaks throughout this site (Pub Med Article ID numbers, "PMIDs" are found all over the site so you can learn more), but check it out for yourself!
*Increased consumption of fruits and vegetables has been shown to be protective against certain types of cancer and many forms of cardiovascular disease, including hypertension and stroke (References: PMIDs 12936948, 14972059)
*In the United States, people of all ages are not eating the recommended quantities of fruits and vegetables; in fact, fewer than 5% of Americans meet fruit and vegetable requirements (who develops the recommendations and how much of what kinds of vegetables is appropriate is another story) (Reference: PMID 19295947)
